It's just cruel, honestly. He'd promised Fenris he'd never leave again, and then right after that this place decides to play a cruel trick on him and kick him back home for a month. On one hand, it's consistent with his life's regular pattern of shitting on his head at random intervals when he's just trying to mind his own business-- but on the other hand, really? Really.
The first thing Hawke does when he gets back is re-acquaint himself with the dizzying spectacle that is this wacky city, and then he heads straight for their new home. It's going to be weird, probably. Hawke had, for a brief time, gone home to his Fenris-- his fellow warrior, the one who knows him for every bump and scar on his body and soul-- and now it's back to the one he's falling in love with all over again, the one he needs to handle gently and carefully. But that's all right. Fenris is Fenris, and every moment spent away from him hurts like a pang of hunger in a starving stomach.
He pushes open the door and speaks quietly: ] Fenris? Love? I'm back.
